incoming collective crowdfunding
Hi!
Thank you! + Jam results
First, I want to thank you who gave this small game 5 stars and added comments in previous devlogs! Thanks a lot to two great people for their tips too, that's truly encouraging!! I got more comments on this game's devlogs than on other page projects!
The announcement is pretty cool today: symbiosis will be part of the Tiny Tome!
Click to now more about Tiny Tome project
Indeed symbiosis was my submission to the Tiny Tome single-page jam, a ranked game jam whose goal was to produce a book-compendium of 50 games made by 50 different creators. More than 100 games have been submitted and I'm truly glad to announce you that symbiosis has been selected to be in the printed book! Thanks to the participants of the jam who gave my game a good rating. I'm also glad to see most of the games I rated 5-jam-stars are also selected!
You can find all of the 50 selected games listed at this link: itch.io / tiny-tome-selected-games-announcement
symbiosis will soon be updated
Long Tail Games, the editor, gave us a month from now to update our games. That's good news because I wasn't able to work on mine these last weeks. But my brain was thinking a lot about how to improve it! symbiosis will therefore be updated: text will lightly change. Layout and illustration won't. Hope you'll like what I'll delete or add! :) I'll may do a new "creative process" devlog as the last one (here)!
You should note that I'll release the updated version once the book will be ready to print. And this game will become a "paid project" (for a few bucks) to encourage people to look at the Tiny Tome book rather than individual game.
However, as I want people to have access to games, I'm thinking about free digital copies but – disappointed by the almost-zero-feedback from my "review copies" test since more than a year ago on other games – I don't know yet what I'll choose to do.
Click to know what are Review copies
The idea of reviews copies is intended to be complementary to community copies. Community ones are free copies for people who can't afford the price or marginalized people.
Some people can afford the price but feel bad to click on the "community copy" button when they just want to throw an eye to the game, the metaphor could be going to a library and open books to see if we like it before maybe buying. Other people are doing Actual Plays or blog articles about games (that's awesome when people talk about indie games!). Review copies are here for these 2 kinds of people: it's free but I ask a review, 5* rating or a feedback.
I'm lucky to have a roof over my head and enough to eat, even if still financially unstable, so I thought it could be cool to add these reviews copies. At least to get some advertising of my work, even in tiny blogs, I don't ask more. But I got maybe one or two comments for a lot of downloads so… well I don't know. People are just downloading stuff and never read it. I also sometimes do the same, because there are so many new and interesting little games every month! but I try my best to read, comment and rate as many things as I can.
PS: I guess people who tipped on a PWYW project are able to download updated files when the project turns into a paid one, but I'm not sure, please tell me if you know!
The incoming printed book
I can't wait to see the final result! That's a great idea to gather so many indie TTRPGs itchio's creators this way.
And… well, Long Tail Games already received a printed prototype copy to show:
- See him open the book on this video preview on Twitter at twitter.com/Long_Tail_Games
If you're interested by this book, the crowdfunding campaign will soon begin. It will be on Kickstarter, but – if you worry about it – you should note this will be the last Long Tail Games crowdfunding campaign on this platform, next they'll use another platform. Maybe their own slowfunding platform, which already exists; who knows?

Thanks again to anyone taking interest in my duet horror-sacrifice game,
take care.
